Axis reference systems can define the cross sections applied to sections in this axis reference system. Each cross section assignment will assign one cross section available in the domain the axis reference system belongs to with a specific offset interval in that axis reference system.

Cross section assignments must be distinct, i.e. the reference system can define a maximum of one cross section assignment for any offset in that axis reference system. However note that two or more axis reference systems can define different cross sections for the same real world axis position.
